WELL DONE RODI GREENE
Last weekend, former jockey Rodi Greene – who was seriously injured last season – took part in the Exmoor Beast. He completed the 103km bike ride in under five hours and has done bloody brilliantly to regain his fitness.
RUNNERS THIS WEEK:
This morning I was up at 4.30am milking the cows, rode a few lots and then dashed to Exeter races with four runners.
Three horses finished in the frame which was excellent given the competitive racing. After which, Paul Nicholls galloped Big Bucks, Kauto Star and Mon Parrain – this was a real crowd pleaser with Kauto pulling like a train!
I’m really looking forward to Chepstow tomorrow where I’ll ride Ohio Gold in the novices hurdle. He’s summered really well and has grown into a cracking horse – fingers crossed....
HUNTING WITH THE B&SV
The hunting season in underway and after morning stables, I’ll be out hunting with the Blackmore & Sparkford Vale Hunt. Smoke, my hunter, is still not ready following his over-reach injury last season with my father on board! So, I’ll be taking my sister’s hunter – Arthur – and settle for a steady pace.
WIN YOUR WEIGHT IN ALE AT WINCANTON:
This Saturday, (November 5) Badger Ales celebrate 50years of race sponsorship at Wincanton Racecourse.
To commemorate its Golden Anniversary, the Badger Ales team have produced a GOLDEN TICKET for one lucky racegoer. Tucked inside a random racecard, which must be purchased on the day from the racecard kiosks, a fortunate racegoer will win their weight in Badger Ales.
Gates open at 10.35am with the first race off at 12.35pm. There’s also a paddock panel at 11.35 hosted by Luke Harvey to provide racegoers with a few winning tips – hopefully!
BADGER ALES TROPHY
We have 5 – 6 horses entered for Wincanton on Saturday with Intac set to run in the prestigious Badger Ales Trophy. The going will suit him but I believe he’s out of his depth against Meanus Dandy, trained by Paul Nicholls and co-owned by Paul Barber and Mark Woodhouse (Wincanton Chairman), bidding to retain the title and David Pipe’s Madison Du Berlais – 2008 Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup winner, who is using Wincanton’s showcase as a prep-run for the 2011 Hennessy contest.
ENDS – NOV 1
